Cuisine of Passiria Valley

Cuisine of Passiria Valley

The cuisine of the Passiria Valley has gained a legendary notoriety. The meals of our region are characterized by fresh herbs and spices as well as by an excellent combination of hearty and rustic products and Mediterranean flavours. The availability of a wide range of regional organic products is particularly remarkable.

The visitor should taste the incomparable mountain cheeses of the region, preferably having a walk to a serviced Alpine pasture. Yet, any inn of our region offers a wide range of local specialties, too.

In the "Alpenhof" Inn, for example, the pizzeria is the absolute highlight, offering such special dishes like spelt pizzas. In the café in the village centre the guests are daily served fresh cake, ice cream tartlets and, of course, delicious coffee. The guest should visit the "Haselstaude" Inn in St. Martin; if possible, on Sunday between 11.00 am and 4.00 pm, for at this time the people gather up there for the traditional "Frühschoppen" (Sunday morning drink). You can enjoy there the typical South-tyrolean atmosphere listening to live music and tasting rustic grill dishes. Even in the local bowling alley the guests are served delicious little snacks and traditional noodle dishes

The "Weinladele Passeirer" wine pub offers excellent wines and is therefore a fine place to taste a glass of wine. The guest, who prefers a glass of fresh draught beer instead of a glass of wine, is well served at the "Martinerhof" Inn. It is the first hotel in South Tyrol which has its own brewery.
